FRANKLIN, Wisc. – The Sioux Falls Canaries opened their 13-game roadtrip with a 6-2 loss to the Milwaukee Milkmen Tuesday. Wyatt Ulrich reached three times in the contest and has now reached in 48 straight games.
Charlie Hasty (2-1) suffered the loss on the mound. He allowed six runs (three earned) in 5.1 innings. The Canaries defense committed four errors. Matt Solter (3-5) earned the win on the mound for the Milkmen. He pitched seven innings of shutout ball, limiting the Canaries to just three hits.
The Milkmen got out to a 4-0 lead in the first and added runs in the third and sixth. They were led by Christian Correa, who went deep for his ninth home run of the season. Zane Gurwitz and Mike Hart each picked up RBI as the Birds got on the board in the eighth.
Ulrich now sits just eight games away from tying the all-time American Association consecutive game on-base streak of 56 set by Stephen Douglas in 2011.
The Canaries (24-38) will meet the Milkmen (41-21) again tomorrow at 6:35. LHP Ty Culbreth (6-4, 5.03 ERA) will be on the bump for the Birds vs. RHP Myles Smith (8-3, 3.46 ERA) for Milwaukee.
