The Canaries Sign Josh Rehwaldt

SIOUX FALLS, SD – The Canaries lock up former University of Sioux Falls standout, Josh Rehwaldt.

Rehwaldt, 26, joins the Birds following back-to-back All-Star seasons with the New Jersey Jackals of the Frontier League.

2022 – 94 Games, 72 Runs, 29 Home Runs, 79 RBI’s – .325/.392/.638/1.031 OPS

2023 – 95 Games, 98 Runs, 29 Home Runs, 90 RBI’s – .315/.407/.605/1.012 OPS

The 6’6” 250-pound outfielder signed on with the Canaries following the completion of his collegiate career in 2019. Following an offseason trade to Frontier league in 2020, Rehwaldt has finished with a .300 or better batting average each of his four seasons, tallying 73 round trippers.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to bring Josh back home to Sioux Falls,” says Canaries Manager Mike Meyer. “He has grown into a major force at the plate, as well as on the basepaths (18 stolen bases in 2023). His approach, plate discipline, and athleticism have improved each season at the professional level. I cannot wait to see him in the middle of our lineup.”
