BIRDS DROP SERIES FINALE VERSUS FISH

Winnipeg, MB – The Winnipeg offense exploded for 14 runs on 12 hits Thursday night, topping the Sioux Falls Canaries 14-3 at Blue Cross Park.

The Goldeyes opened the scoring with an RBI double in the second inning but Sioux Falls scored twice in the top of the third. A run came in on a groundout before Anthony Sharkas put the Birds in front with an RBI single.

The Fish took the lead for good with four runs in the fourth inning. Josh Rehwaldt smacked an RBI single in the fifth to bring Sioux Falls within 5-3 but that’s as close as the Birds would get the rest of the way.

Winnipeg scored two in the bottom half, four in the sixth and three more in the eighth to break the game open.

Six different Canaries recorded a hit in the game as the Birds dip to 12-8 overall. The Birds open a three-game series at Lincoln Friday at 7:05pm.
