Sioux Falls Canaries Sign Thomas Dorminy for 2026 Season; Veteran Left-Hander to Also Serve as Pitching Coach
Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries have announced the return of left-handed pitcher Thomas Dorminy for the 2026 season. In addition to bolstering the starting rotation, Dorminy will take on a dual role as the club’s pitching coach.
Dorminy joins the Canaries following a dominant 2025 campaign, where he was one of the top starting pitchers in the American Association. Across 20 starts, the southpaw compiled an exceptional 11-1 record, logging 121 innings, striking out 108 batters, and finishing with a dazzling 2.90 ERA.
“Thomas brings everything you want in a pitcher and a leader,” said Canaries manager Mike Meyer. “His performance last season speaks for itself, but what really excites us is his ability to elevate the guys around him. He understands pitching at a high level and knows how to communicate that. He’s going to have a huge impact both on the mound and in the clubhouse. We expect Dorminy’s combination of experience and leadership to play a key role in shaping the Canaries’ pitching staff in 2026.
