Smithfield For Field Naming Rights

The Sioux Falls Canaries announced today that they have entered into a partnership with Smithfield Foods and naming rights for playing surface at the Birdcage.

Smithfield Foods traces its history to 1936 when Smithfield Packing Company opened in Smithfield, Virginia . The company employs over 3,000 workers at the Sioux Falls plant and has over 50,000 employees world-wide. “The John Morrell Sioux Falls facility opened in 1909 just 10 years after South Dakota became a state and has been a cornerstone of the community. Smithfield Foods purchased the plant in 1995 and through significant investment and planning has helped the plant evolve to meet the business dynamic the industry demands. We look forward to our partnership with the Sioux Falls Canaries.”

“We are excited to partner with Smithfield for the naming rights for the field at the Birdcage,” said Canaries President Brian Jamros. “Smithfield provided us an opportunity to ensure the Birdcage continues to be a valuable asset for the Sioux Falls community and we are very appreciative of the partnership with Smithfield.”
