CANARIES PUNCH PLAYOFF TICKET WITH FOURTH CONSECUTIVE VICTORY
Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries are headed to the Miles Cup Playoffs for the fourth consecutive season and for the eighth time in franchise history after topping Lincoln 3-2 at the Birdcage.
The Canaries were held to one hit through the first five innings but rallied to score three runs with two outs in the bottom of the sixth. Anthony Hall broke the scoreless tie with a two-run single before Grady Mee added an RBI bunt.
The 3-0 score held until the Saltdogs fought back with a two-run homer in the top of the ninth but Charlie Hasty stuck out the next two batters and induced a groundout to end the game.
Josh Rehwaldt finished with two hits while Nicholas Arbach scattered three hits over six shutout innings and fanned five to earn the win. The Canaries (50-48) return to action Sunday at 4:05pm.
