WALKOFF BARI BOMB KEEPS BIRDS IN PLAYOFF CHASE
Sioux Falls, SD – Jabari Henry hit a walkoff 376-foot homerun on Wednesday to propel the Canaries to a 5-4 win over Cleburne.
The Railroaders homered two pitches into the game to open the scoring. Josh Rehwaldt put Sioux Falls in front with a two-run shot in the bottom of the third.
Cleburne retook the lead with a three-run blast in the fifth inning but Sioux Falls tied things up in the seventh. Joe Vos and Scott Combs both singled to start the frame before the Railroaders answered with back-to-back strikeouts. Henry walked to extend the inning and a two-run fielding error tied the game.
The score held until Henry’s two-out blast in the ninth to push the Canaries’ record to 47-48 and keep Sioux Falls in the West Division playoff picture via tiebreaker criteria. Vos and Rehwaldt each finished with two hits while the Birds’ bullpen turned in 3 1/3 scoreless and hitless innings. Spencer Bauer struck out two in the top half of the ninth to earn the win.
The two teams wrap up their three-game series Thursday at 6:35pm.
