CANARIES FALL TO REDHAWKS IN SERIES RUBBER MATCH
Sioux Falls, SD – Fargo-Moorhead scored four first inning runs and never looked back, topping the Sioux Falls Canaries 8-4 at the Birdcage on Sunday.
An RBI single and a three-run homerun in the top of the first opened the scoring before the Birds loaded the bases with three consecutive one-out walks in the bottom half. Mike Hart drove in two with a base hit to pull Sioux Falls within 4-2 after one.
Joe Vos walked with two outs in the second and scored on a double from Anthony Sharkas. The 4-3 score held until the fifth inning when the RedHawks tacked on an RBI double with two outs.
Chris Kwitzer homered to leadoff the bottom of the seventh but that’s as close as the Canaries would get. Fargo-Moorhead scored three times in the top of the eighth and the Birds stranded three runners on base over the final two innings.
Michael Curialle led the Sioux Falls offense with two hits as the Birds dip to 10-6 overall. The Canaries open a ten-game roadtrip Monday night in Winnipeg.
