Canaries One-Hit Chicago Behind Rehwaldt and Curialle’s Big Nights at the Plate

Sioux Falls, SD – Josh Rehwaldt homered, Michael Curialle drove in three runs and three Canaries pitchers combined to one-hit Chicago as Sioux Falls picked up a 4-2 victory Saturday night at the Bird Cage.

Rehwaldt opened the scoring in the second inning with a leadoff homerun to center field. He later scaled the right field wall in the top of the fourth and robbed the Dogs of a homerun to keep the Birds in front 1-0.

Rehwaldt walked with two outs in the home half of the inning and scored on a double from Curialle.

The Dogs got on the board with a sacrifice flyout in the top of the fifth and their lone hit was a solo homerun in the sixth to tie the game at 2-2.

The tie score held until Curialle smacked a two-out, two-run double in the eighth inning that proved to be the difference. Charlie Hasty struck out two in a scoreless top of the ninth to earn his third save

Curialle finished 3-4 while Christian Edwards fanned six over six innings and Kody Dalen tossed two scoreless innings of relief to earn the win. The Canaries (7-2) will try for a three-game series sweep Sunday at 4:05pm.
