Big Third Inning Fuels Birds Victory Over Chicago

Sioux Falls, SD – The Sioux Falls Canaries never trailed Friday night, utilizing a five-run third inning to take down Chicago 9-5 at the Bird Cage.

The Birds struck first when an RBI sacrifice groundout from Anthony Hall drove in Joe Vos in the bottom of the first. Sioux Falls later exploded for five runs in the third inning. Hall ripped a two-run triple and Jabari Henry added an RBI single. Mike Hart and Michael Curialle followed with back-to-back run-scoring doubles before Chicago could escape the jam.

The Dogs scored three times on a pair of homeruns in the top of the fifth but Hart answered with a three-run blast in the sixth.

Chicago added a two-run homerun with two outs in the top of the ninth.

Thomas Dorminy allowed three runs over six innings to earn the win. Vos, Hall, Henry, Hart and Curialle each finished with two hits as the Canaries improve to a league-best 6-2 on the season. The two teams resume their three-game series Saturday at 5:35pm.
