EARLY DEFICIT TOO MUCH FOR CANARIES TO OVERCOME
Sioux Falls, SD – Lincoln scored 13 runs in the second inning and never looked back, topping the Sioux Falls Canaries 22-11 at the Birdcage.
The Saltdogs scored twice in the top of the first before Grady Mee singled to bring home Michael Curialle in the bottom half. Lincoln sent 19 batters to the plate in the second inning to build a 15-1 lead.
The Birds fought back with five runs in the bottom of the third. Joe Vos smacked a two-run single and Trevor Achenbach launched a three-run homer.
The Saltdogs got a run back in the fourth inning before Josh Rehwaldt smacked a solo shot in the bottom half and Vos added an RBI sacrifice fly.
That’s as close as the Birds would get however as Lincoln tacked on five runs in the sixth and added one more in the eighth. TJ Racherbaumer homered with two runners on base in the ninth to cap the scoring.
Curialle finished with three hits as the Canaries dip to 50-49 overall. The two teams wrap up their series and the regular season Monday at 11:05am.
