GOLDEYES COMPLETE SWEEP OF CANARIES
Sioux Falls, SD – Winnipeg picked up their 16th win in their last 18 tries on Thursday, completing a three-game series sweep of the Sioux Falls Canaries with a 12-6 victory.
Grady Mee walked to start the first inning and scored on a Michael Curialle sacrifice fly. The Goldeyes scored four times in the bottom half but the Birds took the lead back in the top of the second when Mee clobbered a grand slam.
Trevor Achenbach singled with two outs in the fourth inning and scored on a TJ Racherbaumer double to put Sioux Falls in front 6-4 but it was all Fish after that. They tied the game with two runs in the bottom of the fourth, scored five in the seventh and added one more in the eighth. A two-out balk in the seventh inning led to the go-ahead run, followed by an RBI single and a three-run homer.
Six different Canaries finished with a hit as the Birds dip to 39-38 overall. The seven-game roadtrip continues with the first of four in Fargo Friday night at 7:02pm.
