Henry Drives in Six as Birds Top Lake Country

Sioux Falls, SD – Jabari Henry drove in six runs Wednesday night, including a sixth inning grand slam, as the Sioux Falls Canaries defeated Lake Country 10-6 at the Bird Cage.

The Dockhounds scored a run in the top of the first inning before the Birds pushed two across in the second on back-to-back doubles from Scott Combs and Chris Kwitzer.

Lake Country fought back with two runs in the top of the third but the Birds tied things up in the bottom half on an RBI single from Henry. Henry later put Sioux Falls in front for good with a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning.

The Canaries exploded for six runs in the bottom of the sixth. Kwitzer scored on a wild pitch and Anthony Hall drew a bases loaded walk before Henry crushed a grand slam.

The DockHounds scored once in the top of the seventh and twice in the eighth but could get no closer.

Derek Craft tossed five innings to get the win in his Canaries debut. Henry, Kwitzer, Josh Rehwaldt and Jalen Greer all finished with two hits as the Birds improve to 5-1 on the season. The two teams wrap up their four-game series Thursday at 6:35pm.
