HENRY’S HOMER HOLDS UP AS BIRDS SPLIT DOUBLEHEADER

Geneva, IL – Pitching dominated on Wednesday as the Sioux Falls Canaries split a doubleheader at Kane County.

The Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the fourth inning and that proved to be more than enough as they took game one 4-0.

Kane County added an insurance run in the sixth inning before the Birds loaded the bases in the top of the seventh but could not bridge the gap.

The Canaries were limited to four hits and struck out nine times against Kane County starter Reese Sharp.

Jabari Henry smacked a two-out solo homerun in the top of the first inning and that would be all the scoring in the nightcap as the Birds won 1-0.

Dylan Kirkeby, Will Levine, Spencer Bauer and Charlie Hasty combined to toss a two-hit shutout as the Birds end the day with a league-best 9-3 record.

The two teams wrap up their three-game series Thursday at 6:30pm.
